Is Audible free with Amazon Prime?

No. They are separate subscriptions with separate fees. The confusion is understandable, because Amazon owns both and promotes them together.

No. Audible is a separate paid membership with its own monthly fee, and an Amazon Prime subscription does not include it. You can be a Prime member and pay full price for Audible, and you can use Audible without Prime at all.

Why so many people think otherwise

Amazon owns Audible, signs you into it with your Amazon account, bills it to the same card, and markets the two together. From the outside that looks like one product with tiers. It is not: they are separate subscriptions that happen to share a login. The same confusion produces the equally common question about whether Kindle Unlimited comes with Prime, and the answer there is the same shape.

What Prime members actually get on the reading side

Prime bundles a set of digital benefits that Amazon has changed repeatedly over the years, and describing them from memory is exactly how a page like this goes stale and starts misleading people. We keep the current picture on what Prime actually includes and, more usefully, tell you where to check it against your own account — because entitlements can differ by country and by plan.

The practical point is this: whatever reading benefit Prime carries at any given moment, it is a different thing from an Audible membership, with a different catalog. If a specific audiobook is what you want, Prime is not the route to it.

Promotions do exist

Amazon does periodically run Audible offers aimed at Prime members, usually around its own sale events. Those are promotions, not a standing entitlement, and they show up in the signup flow. That is a real reason to look at the offer rather than assume the standard rate — but it is not a reason to believe Prime includes Audible, and any page telling you it does is either out of date or careless.

Advertising disclosure · we are paid for this

We get a flat fee if you start a qualifying trial through this link. It costs you nothing extra, it does not change what we conclude on this page, and the full disclosure is here.

Check what your account is offered

Promotional rates are shown against your own Amazon account at signup, including any that are running for Prime members today.
