What Kindle Unlimited costs
Amazon shows the price at signup and renders it in a way we cannot read from outside. Rather than repeat a number from elsewhere, here is how to work out whether it is worth it at any price.
We do not publish a Kindle Unlimited price, because we could not read one on an Amazon page. That is an unusual thing for a page with this title to say, so here is the reasoning, and then the part that is actually useful: how to decide whether it is worth it at whatever price you are quoted.
Why the number is missing
Amazon's Kindle Unlimited signup page builds its pricing block in JavaScript, so the figure is not present in the page as it is served. The Kindle Unlimited Terms of Use page describes how fees work — that they are stated in the help pages, may be taxed, are non-refundable except as set out in the terms, and can be changed with notice — but did not carry a dollar figure in the content we could retrieve.
Every other site answering this question states a price confidently. Some of them are right. The problem is that you cannot tell which, because none of them tell you when they last checked or against what. Amazon changes subscription pricing, and a page that quoted a figure in 2024 looks identical to one that checked yesterday. We would rather have a visible gap than an invisible risk of being wrong — the reasoning is set out in full on how we research.

What we could not confirm
- The monthly price. Amazon renders it in JavaScript on the signup page, and the Kindle Unlimited Terms of Use did not state a figure in the content we could retrieve. We are not going to print a number we could not read on an Amazon page, so this site shows the price as something to check at signup.
- The length of the free trial. Amazon's help page confirms a trial exists for eligible customers but does not state how long it runs, and the length has historically varied by account and by promotion.
- The size of the catalog. Amazon does not publish a figure we could confirm, and it states that the catalog changes at any time.

What the terms say about price changes
Amazon's Kindle Unlimited terms provide that it may change the membership fee by notifying you of the change and its effective date beforehand, and that you may reject the change by canceling at no additional cost before it takes effect. Practically: the price you sign up at is not permanent, and the notice email is worth actually reading.
