The two questions that bring most people to this page have short answers. Is Audible free with Prime? No. Does Kindle Unlimited come with Prime? No. Both are separate paid subscriptions with their own fees and their own catalogs, and having Prime does not give you either.
Why this keeps happening
It is a genuinely reasonable mistake. Amazon owns Audible, signs you into it with your Amazon credentials, bills it to the card already on your account, and advertises it inside the same interface where your Prime benefits live. Nothing about that experience signals “separate company, separate subscription”. But the billing is separate, and people find out at the end of a trial.
What Prime does carry on the reading side
Prime has long bundled a reading benefit — a rotating selection you can borrow at no extra charge, smaller than Kindle Unlimited and with a lower limit on how many titles you hold at once. Amazon has also bundled and unbundled various audio and reading perks over the years.

The dependable move is to open your Amazon account, find the benefits list attached to your own Prime membership, and read it there. It takes a minute and it is right for your account rather than approximately right for someone else's.
Where the paid subscriptions come in
