What Amazon Prime actually includes for readers
Prime does not include Audible and it does not include Kindle Unlimited. What it does include on the reading side changes, so here is how to check rather than guess.

The two questions that bring most people to this page have short answers. Is Audible free with Prime? No. Does Kindle Unlimited come with Prime? No. Both are separate paid subscriptions with their own fees and their own catalogs, and having Prime does not give you either.
Why this keeps happening
It is a genuinely reasonable mistake. Amazon owns Audible, signs you into it with your Amazon credentials, bills it to the card already on your account, and advertises it inside the same interface where your Prime benefits live. Nothing about that experience signals “separate company, separate subscription”. But the billing is separate, and people find out at the end of a trial.
What Prime does carry on the reading side
Prime has long bundled a reading benefit — a rotating selection you can borrow at no extra charge, smaller than Kindle Unlimited and with a lower limit on how many titles you hold at once. Amazon has also bundled and unbundled various audio and reading perks over the years.
We are deliberately not listing today's exact line-up. Amazon changes it, entitlements differ by country and by plan, and an article that names benefits is out of date the moment the bundle shifts — which is precisely how the pages currently ranking for this query became unreliable. The dependable move is to open your Amazon account, find the benefits list attached to your own Prime membership, and read it there. It takes a minute and it is right for your account rather than approximately right for someone else's.
Where the paid subscriptions come in
Once you know the Prime benefit is not enough, the choice is between the two paid products, and it splits by format. Listening points at Audible; reading points at Kindle Unlimited. And the free route, again
Prime is not the free option for books; your library is. Digital lending through Libby covers both ebooks and audiobooks at no cost, and it is stronger than any of the Amazon options on mainstream traditionally published titles. See where free audiobooks actually come from.
Advertising disclosure · we are paid for this
We get a flat fee if you start a qualifying trial through this link. It costs you nothing extra, it does not change what we conclude on this page, and the full disclosure is here.
If Prime is not covering it
Audible is the separate audiobook membership. Current terms and any Prime-linked promotion appear against your own account at signup.
#ad · The offer you see is whatever Audible is running at the moment you click, which is why we send you to look rather than printing a number that could be out of date. What we checked, and when, is on how we research. Terms last verified 11 August 2026.
