Audiobooks on Kindle Unlimited
Some Kindle Unlimited titles come with narration. That is not the same as an Audible membership, and the difference costs people money every day.
Kindle Unlimited includes narration on some titles, and it does not include Audible. Those are two separate Amazon subscriptions with separate catalogs and separate fees. Holding one does not give you the other. If you only take one thing from this page, take that.
What you do get
A portion of the Kindle Unlimited catalog carries narration bundled with the ebook. Amazon's own guidance for finding them is to look for the “with Narration” headset icon on the Kindle book page, or to browse the Kindle Unlimited store and filter by audiobooks. Where a title has it, you can read it and listen to it under the same membership.

What you do not get
Audible's catalog, Audible's credits, or the ability to pick any audiobook you like. The narrated subset of Kindle Unlimited is just that — a subset, defined by which publishers enrolled which titles, and you take what is there. For a specific audiobook you have in mind, the odds are considerably better on a dedicated audiobook service. That is the comparison to run: Audible versus Kindle Unlimited.
If listening is the main event
Judge Audible on its own terms rather than treating narrated Kindle Unlimited titles as a cheap substitute — you will be comparing a broad audiobook service against a bundled extra, and the bundled extra will lose on selection every time. Start with whether Audible is worth it.
And if what you actually want is audiobooks for as little as possible, the honest answer is neither of them first: try your library through Libby and the public-domain recordings covered in where free audiobooks come from. We earn nothing from either.
If reading is the main event and narration is a bonus
Then the narrated subset is a genuine perk rather than a disappointment, and Kindle Unlimited is being judged for what it actually is. Being able to switch from reading on a phone to listening in the car on the same title is a real convenience — it just is not a reason to buy the subscription on its own.
