Privacy policy

What this site collects, what it does not, and who else sees anything. Last updated 11 August 2026.

Who we are

Shelf & Sound (“we”, “us”) is published by Type 5 Marketing LLC. You can reach us at info@shelfandsound.com.

What we collect

Nothing, unless you send it to us. There are no accounts on this site, no logins, no newsletter, and no comment system. You can read every page here without giving us anything.

The two exceptions:

  • The contact form. If you fill it in, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you typed, by email. We use them to reply to you and to act on corrections. We do not add you to any list.
  • Analytics. See below.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and which links get clicked. It sets cookies and collects the usual technical information — pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived. We use it in aggregate to decide what to write next.

We also record an event when someone clicks one of our affiliate links, so we can tell which pages actually help people. That event records the program and the page it was clicked from. It does not record who you are, because we do not know.

Google processes this data as our analytics provider and under its own terms. If you would rather not be measured, browser-level tracking protection, an ad blocker, or Google's own opt-out browser add-on all prevent it, and nothing on this site stops working if you use them.

Affiliate links and Amazon

Our signup links pass through /go/ on this domain and then redirect you to Amazon or Audible with our Associates tag attached. That redirect lets us count the click. Once you arrive at Amazon or Audible, their privacy policy applies, not ours, and anything you do there — including signing up — is between you and them. We never see your payment details, your Amazon account, or whether you subscribed as an individual.

Amazon may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. What we receive from Amazon is aggregate reporting, not information about identifiable people. More about how this funds the site is on our affiliate disclosure.

Hosting and logs

This site is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests and keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes. That is a normal part of serving a website.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent personal information. There is nothing to sell.
  • We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
  • We do not operate a mailing list.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. This site is written for adults deciding on a subscription.

How long we keep things

Contact form emails are kept while they are useful for correspondence and record-keeping, then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, and to object to certain processing. Since the only personal information we are likely to hold is an email you sent us, exercising those rights is usually a single message to info@shelfandsound.com. We will respond within a reasonable period.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update it here and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than made silently.
